Otis Boykin — The Short Version
Otis Boykin was a Black inventor and engineer who developed improved electrical resistors used in pacemakers, computers, and guided missile systems. His pacemaker resistor made the device reliable enough to be implanted in a human heart — directly responsible for keeping millions of people alive today. Boykin himself died of heart failure in 1982, never witnessing the full scale of what his work had saved.
