Garrett Augustus Morgan — The Short Version

In 1923, Garrett Morgan received a patent for his three-position traffic signal. Its intermediate position stopped traffic in all directions before the right of way changed. He also developed a safety hood and used it alongside fellow rescuers during a 1916 tunnel disaster. His name belongs beside the inventions.
